Grief Guidance

Everyone grieves in their own way and in their own time. The grieving process often involves a range of difficult and complicated emotions. The death of a loved one or a relationship breakdown is a devastating life event and it takes time for the intense distress to soften into something easier to live with.

Everything can lose its meaning and colour, while the potential of feeling any level of delight in living again can seem an unlikely reality. Coaching is not the same as bereavement counselling. When it's the right time for you, it can provide the support needed to begin this new chapter of your life, despite it not being the one you may ever have dreamed of living.

Are you dealing with COVID overload?

First came the self-isolation and restricted access to workplaces, extended family and everyday freedoms.  Many have given significantly more to this battle and their contributions have gone widely unacknowledged.

Some families and friends have been burdened by isolation and quarantine regulations, while they suffered the most heart-wrenching impact of their lives - the loss of a parent, spouse, close family member, treasured child or close friend. Our condolences go out to those who could not be with their loved ones as they battled illness or passed over. The pain of this loss was not made any lighter by being unable to farewell them with the loving support of friends and family. They may now be experiencing unusual or immobilising feelings of sadness, guilt and grief as they try to reconcile loss.

People have lost their job through redundancy or now live with continued rumours of impending layoffs, job reassignments and heavier workloads, while colleague numbers have been reduced. These situations also impact the remaining staff who may feel guilty to have jobs and income while their co-workers are now missing.

Under normal circumstances, these situations can push many into emotional overload, financial hardship, stress, family tension, fear and sleeplessness through worry or guilt. While these feelings are a normal reaction to the immediate crisis, they should not become a on-going long-term trauma.

Even without the extra complications that come from these unusual Covid effected times, personal situations can seem overwhelming and any losses feel unreal and devastating. They may feel unsupported and lack the tools to deal with these new situations. They are no longer calm or clear on the way forward and quite simply, cannot find or see any future solutions.

If you are reading this and feel I am talking about you, your family member or friend, trust me you are not alone on this journey. You might just need someone outside of your immediate circle to chat to.

Big changes come from small steps.

Anew Chapter, Anew Future
